There is now a new process to enable memory competitions to be recognised by the WMSC and for their results to be included in the World Rankings.
Firstly, all event organisers should initially complete this on-line form, well in advance of the competition so that it can be publicised to all competitors and the media.
For competitions where the results are to be included in the Official World Rankings, details of the Qualified Arbiters who will be supervising the competition will be also required before the event can be officially recognised. This is not necessary for non-ranked events.
Secondly, the Memory Competition Excel Datasheet should be downloaded from this site, completed with the names of all competitors, and emailed back to the WMSC Secretariat. Prior to the competition, the organiser should ensure that all competitors have individually registered their full details using the Memory Competitor Registration form.
Thirdly, once the competition is completed, the Memory Competition Excel Datasheet should be completed with the scores from each discipline and emailed to the WMSC Secretariat. The Arbiters who were present must also confirm by email that they are satisfied that the competition was conducted in accordance with the WMSC rules.
There is no charge for non-ranked competitions. However, for ranked events, organisers pay a ranking fee of US$5 for each competitor to cover the cost of processing and verifying the competition data and adding it to the World Rankings table.
Once the competition has been recognised, event organisers can obtain a blank Official Certificate from the WMSC Secretariat, which they can complete and issue to the competitors in their event. Certificate can be awarded for Participation in the Competition, Gold, Silver and Bronze in each discipline and overall winners. Competitors can purchase hand made presentation certificates signed by the Council and carrying the Official Seal of the WMSC for any recognised WMSC competition.
